Awesome news! It’s March and this is when Hikoi hold their FAMOUS Shoe Trade-In month!
Hikoi’s Shoe Trade promo has always been a massive success every year for the past 12 years. The STI promo as we know it started as a bit of a novel idea and grew. We thought, If you can trade cars then why not shoes? So we gave it a go and it worked!
We always get plenty of laughs and comments from unassuming customers when we point to the very shoes on their feet and tell them “We’ll give you $30 bucks for those shoes” 🙂
Not surprisingly when you tell someone that the scummy shoes on their feet were suddenly worth $30 they tend to go for it and so we had many willing traders. So many in fact we didn’t know what to do with the shoes OR where to put them! A ha someone said, I know, let’s pile them up in the window and make a shoe ‘graveyard’ for old and retired shoes. So up went the R.I.P and ‘here-in lies your shoes’ signs along with the hanging spider and the cobwebs, and then eventually even a shoe coffin appeared!
Every year it’s fun to see customers turn their heads to look at our awesome window displays and each year during Shoe Trade In month we get all sorts of interesting shoes given to us. We’ve had platform high heels, roller skates, clogs and even a single moon boot and each year there’s one pair that really stands out.
This year will be no different! So if you have an exotic pair to trade we’d love to meet you!
What to do with all the shoes?!
Most of the pairs of 2nd hand footwear our customers trade with us are in good condition and often brand new and still in their boxes!
Lots of pairs could easily be reused again. ‘A ha’ someone thought again. Lets send them overseas! And so we did.. All the way to East Timor with the Kids Ark Foundation! This was turning out a big win win for everyone!
Hikoi try to do something different each year. Over these past years, thanks to the generosity of the people who have participated in trading their shoes with us, we’ve mostly been able to make mind boggling footwear or cash donations to various charities! This year we want to give away a goat! Find out how you can help below.
If our shoe trading and giving back idea appeals to you and you feel good about it, why not buy your shoes from Hikoi this March. Not only will you save $30 ($15 on kids) per pair, your traded shoes will go somewhere good and not clog up your closet!
It’s time to bid them farewell and upgrade today!

Goats to Africa. The 2016 Shoe Trade-In
This year Hikoi wanted to do something a little different and something too that went with the Shoe Trade-In’s theme of giving back.
What was a fun prize that everybody could win? We found a nanny of a prize. A pair of goats in fact that we hope to buy soon!
As soon as we reach 1000 post likes that is! Help us get there, it costs nothing but gives a lot!
Hikoi pledge to donate one (or more) of the following animals to an Oxfam sponsored family or village.
100+ Post likes = Chickens
500+ Post likes = A pig
1000+ Post like (OUR GOAL) = A pair of goats! (we’re not kidding!)
Like and share our post. Let’s keep this fun, make it a challenge and raise awareness that there are simple things we can all do to help others!
We will be keeping everyone updated via our Facebook page of the results as we go.
