How to care for your waterproof / breathable garment.
In order to maximize the life of your garment, waterproof / breathable clothing must be properly cleaned and maintained.
Hikoi recommends periodically washing your waterproof garment using either warm water, pure soap (i.e. non detergent) or a tried and trusted tech wash product. Also from time to time, depending on use, using a tried and trusted re-waterproofing product such as Nikwax TX Direct will keep your jacket water tight for the life of the jacket. Most often, if a garment is damp or appears to be taking on water, it is because the manufacturer's Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish is matted or dirty. To keep your fabric performing like new, adhere to the guidelines on the care label inside every garment.
Washing Tips
Dirt attracts water and can affect how well your jacket's DWR works. Wash your garment periodically in warm water with no detergent. You may also prefer to use a tech wash product.
Never use bleach or fabric softeners.
Never dry-clean Using Heat.
Use a low dryer heat to rejuvenate your clothing's DWR.
Occasionally gently iron the outside on a warm/steam setting to rejuvenate DWR.
