Our goal is to provide our customers with a website and an online shop that mirrors as closely as possible the look and feel of each of our Hikoi stores.

 

Just as we do in these stores, we now offer you a boutique shopping experience in a well presented, non-cluttered, fun and easy to browse in online shop ; one offering top international brands as well as home grown NZ ones.


It has always been our vision, from the opening of our first shop in Taupo, to provide the best quality most fashionable outdoor product on the market. Not only should this product be comfortable and function to the highest standard but it should be ideally suited to travel and, of course, look street smart.

About the Team

As you can see, the Hikoi Team is pretty much representative of age, gender and nationality – maybe the nationality thing is not so obvious – but these smiling faces are from homegrown New Zealand (father and son), Bonnie Scotland and the Netherlands – guess who’s who???

Also what you see is the experience gained from hundreds of thousands of kilometers of travel in all sorts of conditions, across most continents of the world and using most modes of transport. We have stayed in good hotels and budget-priced hostels and have learnt plenty from all our experiences.

Most of all, the team learned of the importance of using travel apparel and footwear with comfort, fashion and practicality as the overriding concerns. As the Hikoi team we are proud to present gear that has been tried and tested, from brands that are recognised internationally and fill all the requirements for travel, the outdoors, fashion and style.

The Hikoi team believes in preserving and protecting our environment. We therefore deal only with suppliers who share the same ethics, values and beliefs as we do. All of Hikoi’s collateral (labels, tickets, cards and even our shopping bags) are printed on recycled paper with enviro-friendly inks.
Many of our branded products use recycled materials for footwear and bags. Most use organic or natural materials such as NZ merino to make their clothing. Our brands are made in clean, certified factories that don’t use slave labour.

New Zealand Made products are featured in all Hikoi stores. We believe in supporting our country and our workers and we hope that you do too.

At Hikoi we believe in loyalty and in rewarding our customers. That is why, from your very first purchase, you qualify for Hikoi Rewards Points!

What are Hikoi Rewards Points and how can I use them?

With every $20 that you spend, you earn 1 Hikoi Rewards Point. Each Hikoi Reward Point is worth a New Zealand dollar ($NZ1) Your points earned are saved under your unique customer name and can be used as discount on any future purchases. Your Hikoi Rewards Points accumulate, never expire and can be used in any of our Taupo, New Plymouth or Mt Maunganui stores. While our On-Line customers can earn Hikoi Reward Points for purchases, for the moment there is no facility for redemption of Reward Points at Hikoi On-Line. We are however working to include this function for our On-line customers. As soon as we are able, you will be notified of this additional benefit.

Do I earn points on Specials?

Yes! Even if you buy a discounted or sales item you still earn and accumulate Hikoi Rewards Points.

How do I know how many points I have?

Easy! Simply give your name to any Hikoi team member and they can tell you. Alternatively, email info@hikoi.co.nz to find out.

Hikoi Birthday Vouchers

Everybody loves a birthday present and that is why Hikoi offer all of their loyal customers a $10 birthday voucher. For this to happen of course we need to know your D.O.B. If you are not already on our birthday list, and would like a $10 Hikoi Birthday Voucher every year, all you have to do is register with Hikoi and ensure you include your D.O.B. If you are not already registered then click here to get started.

Currently we mail out a printed birthday voucher and these can only be redeemed in any of our physical stores (as with the Hikoi Rewards Points). We are also working to include a voucher redemption facility in our On-Line shop and we will notify you as soon as this happens.

Can I redeem vouchers on sale items?

You sure can, we don’t like to make it hard for our customers on their birthdays!

Can I use points and vouchers together?

No problems, you earned them after all!

Returns Policies. Hikoi's 30 Day Money Back Guarantee

Hikoi are proud to offer a “30 day, no questions asked, money back guarantee” on all purchases made via this website. It even applies on specials!

If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase you may return it for exchange or a full refund.

Items returned within the 30 day period (starting from the date of purchase) can be either exchanged for any other product of the same, lesser or greater value (with the balance sorted by way of refund or credit card payment). If you would rather, you can receive a refund for the full amount of the purchase. No freight costs will be refunded.

A refund, or exchange can only be given on the safe arrival at Hikoi of the product being returned. Returns must be in “as purchased” condition with all packaging, ticketing and labelling intact and accompanied by “proof of Purchase”

If you seeking a refund, please note carefully, we can only credit the value of the returned item to the same Credit Card which was used to make the initial purchase.

Warranty Policy.

We only stock and sell top quality branded products and hence material, design or production faults are very rare. We carefully inspect any product sent to you to verify its integrity and great workmanship. In the event that you do receive a product with any defect please contact us so we can take the appropriate action.

All brands we stock carry manufacturer’s warranties which, in addition, to the above 30 day Hikoi warranty are generally limited in time. The type of warranty that applies is usually recorded on the information tags attached to the product. If no specific warranty is stated any warranty claims will be assessed on the basis of the type of damage that has been sustained, the age of the product and the normal expected “duty of care” of the product by the customer.

Warranties will not apply where damage has been caused by accident, improper care or the natural breakdown of materials over time. In any case where damage has been caused by the above we can arrange to have the product repaired for you. Where you would like us to do this freight charges will be incurred and will be your responsibility. If you would like we will quote an all up cost for repair including freight prior to you sending the item back to us.
In any warranty claim we require ‘Proof of Purchase’ to be provided. Warranties only apply to the original purchaser and we reserve the right to replace or repair any product at our discretion.

Our greatest wish is that all our customers are satisfied with their purchases from Hikoi On-line. We only stock products that will perform as expected, are durable, and enhance your relationship with the brands we carry. We know that they will work for you as you make your journey. We will ensure warranty claims are settled promptly and to your satisfaction every time!

Pricing Policy

All our prices are quoted in New Zealand dollars and include GST (Goods and Services Tax). This tax is not payable by international (non-New Zealand) customers and will be deducted from the price quoted. The simple checkout process calculates everything for you. The current rate of GST applying within New Zealand is 12.5%.

Stock Availability

We at Hikoi On-Line always try to have those products displayed on our Website in stock and as current as possible. If we are unable to supply the product you have ordered we will contact you and outline for you all options available. These options may include – the purchase of the same model but in a different colour, or a different model, or the model you have requested for later delivery or you may simply choose to cancel the order.

WE WILL NOT CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD UNTIL WE HAVE PACKED THE PRODUCT AND HAVE YOUR ORDER READY TO SHIP TO YOU.

We will not ship part orders without consulting you.

Privacy Information

Any information you supply to us is secure. It remains the sole property of ‘Hikoi’ and will not be provided to any other Company or Organisation without your express authority.

Security

The Hikoi On-Line website operates with a very secure ordering system. Any information you provide to us – including Credit Card details, is secure and you can be confident that it cannot be accessed by anyone else. Please be aware that Hikoi run fraud tests on credit cards.

In the event that you are still unsure or uncomfortable with processing your order this way (that is by using your credit card) please contact us and we can organise some other means of arranging payment.

Exchange Rate Differences & Import taxes

The prices shown on our Hikoi On-Line website are always quoted in New Zealand Dollars (NZ$). When we receive your order and are in a position to dispatch your purchase the rate of currency exchange that will apply if you are an overseas customer will be that used by your Credit Card provider on the day the transaction is processed.

You should also be aware that Customs Authorities in most Countries undertake ‘spot checks’ on parcels crossing their borders. Upon inspection you may be required to pay import or sales tax that is applicable in your country. Because we are obliged to include a Tax Invoice for your purchase you will find that the Tax Invoice will be used as the basis for any customs charges or sale tax if applied. Please note that any charges incurred in this way are beyond Hikoi’s control and are your responsibility.

You may wish to contact your local Customs Authority for information regarding any possible charges that may be applied to your purchase from Hikoi On-Line in New Zealand.

Delivery inside New Zealand

Our preferred delivery company is “EXPRESS COURIERS” and we use their ‘signature required service’. Our minimum delivery charge for any item is $10.00. The maximum weight that they will accept is 20Kgs. On occasions, where applicable, Hikoi may use the NZ Post service. It is always our intention to process your order by close of business on the day we receive it. In the normal course of events you should receive your order within 2 to 4 days. In the event of non-delivery within this time frame please contact us so that we can track and trace your order. If you require an overnight, urgent, or quick delivery please contact us and we will do our very best to arrange it.

Delivery to Overseas Customers

Any deliveries for overseas customers are also taken care of by “Express Couriers” using New Zealand Post’s International Air Service. The maximum weight that can be delivered is 20kgs and the maximum length and girth measurement can be no more than 2metres. Please allow the following delivery times for overseas deliveries: 10-13 working days for Australian deliveries and up to 21 working days for other overseas destinations.

Overseas Delivery Charges

Overseas Delivery costs of an order are calculated in the following way:

Cost of delivery to Australia is 15% of the original value of the highest priced item purchased. eg if an item has an original value of NZ$200 the delivery cost will be: $NZ200 x 15% = NZ$30.

Cost of delivery to all other overseas destinations is 20% of the original value of the highest priced item purchased. eg if an item has an original value of NZ $200 the delivery cost will be: NZ$200 x 20% = NZ$40

NB: If an item is on Special the percentage (%) charged will be based on its original value and not on the discounted price.

Remember that if you are purchasing from overseas the GST (NZ sales tax) will be deducted from the listed price automatically. This saves any overseas buyer 12.5% and so the difference between this saving and the overseas freight charge makes for a very reasonable price on our quality products delivered to your door.

Compensation for Loss or Damage

Compensation payments (GST Inclusive) for loss of, or damage to, courier parcels sent within New Zealand are limited to a maximum claim of NZ$1500.00. If your order is for an amount greater than this figure, additional cover is your care.

Orders sent overseas are limited to a claim of no more than NZ$250.00. If your order is valued at over NZ$250.00 (up to a limit of NZ$1500.00) additional cover is the customers responsibility. No claim can be lodged for loss of or damage, to orders over NZ$1500.00.
